I have a 2002 LS180 with a 2-speed transmission. The machine has 1040 hours on it. Just recently it got stuck in high gear and no matter what position the electric gear changing switch is in it will not change?I am working on my father in laws skid steer. Have you been dealing with annoying problems with your New Holland LS180 .
Some of them are now travelling very slowly: 5-6 mph (8-9km/h) in 1-speed or 8 mph (13km/h) in 2-speed mode. New Holland advertises 7.5 mph (12) single speed and 11.8 mph (19) in two speed. We worked it out the other day: on average only 6 of 8 machines were functional throughout an entire plow run (6-12 hours of work). ----- The Kubota dealer here (a relatively large dealer) wouldn't sell us one for a 'commercial' application (his words) due to the problems they have had with them over the years. All this and not to mention the fact that a similar hp New Holland or John Deere weigh 2-3000 lbs more tells you a lot also. 2800hrs, two speed., fairly tight machine, I am looking for common problems and things to look. problems etc. good comments are welcome too. as for recommending another brand of machine, I have other opinons too please keep it specific to this machine New holland LS190 2000 year model or same
We had three skid loaders on the job - NH LS160, NH L185 and my buddies/homeowners Bobcat 250. After hitting the springs the Bobcat could no longer travel through or work in the area we were putting the wall in. It got stuck every time. However I though for sure I was going to need a tracked skidloader but both of the New Hollands never got .
The problem I always had running a New Holland with a pusher box is that once you tried to turn you lose traction because to steer the tires on one side have to stopp moving. I can see the all wheel steer being more like a truck and being able to keep better traction while turning than a conventional skid steer. Most have their +/- but never have I been so disappointed as I have been with the new L200 series of New Holland skid steer loaders. I recently purchased 4 used NH L200 series skid steers (1 - 2012 L230, 2- 2014 L230s and 1 - 2015 L228) not knowing about all the problems they seem to be known for (my bad for not researching them enough). The new boom with the shorter links keeps the boom from "slapping" as much when there is some wear compared to the LS/LX machines. You can get some late model L220s reasonable. One sold this week on auctiontime in Ephrata. L220, cab air/heat, 2 speed, 600 hrs, super clean and nice, it was 21 or 22k..Probably half of new price..
